Have you gotten your PSVITA yet? Are you waiting for the reviews to come in? Are you still trying to decide whether you want the 3G/WiFi or Wifi Only? Maybe I can help you a little bit.
Today I got my hands, like many others, on this new bad boy by Sony. I pre-ordered the 3G/WiFi bundle because of the features that it came with: Free 3G 250MB Data Card, Free Game and 8GB Memory. This made me pick the 3G/WiFi Model over the WiFi Only was I think it was well worth the $299 with these included items. However, it appears that I was wrong. While the PSVITA Bundle does comes with a 8GB Memory card, there’s a catch for you to receive Super Stardust Delta and your 250MB of 3G Data of service. You have to pay for one month of 3G Service in order to get the games and the 2nd Month of Service free.
I can’t help to think that I’m being scammed. There is a fine print when you buy it (which of course I didn’t read) in which it tells you the terms and conditions. However, that’s how it was advertised on the Playstation Network Blog.
Now what is it that you truly get? Alright, for $15 you get: two months of 3G Connectivity of 250MB each Month (data doesn’t roll over) and Super Stardust Delta ($15 Value Game). When you sign up to AT&T’s monthly plan, they will send you the physical copy of the game.
Should we blame Sony for lying to us? Maybe? Should we have read the fine print? Maybe. However, I think this is more of AT&T’s doing and not Sony’s. However, what do you think?
As far as my opinion goes, if you plan on getting the PSVITA soon and are interesting in getting a game + 3G connectivity for two months, the 3G/WiFi bundle is well worth it. The 8GB Card sure is a good thing to have. However, if 3G is not your thing and frankly you could care less about Super Stardust Delta, the opt for the WiFi-Only Model and buy a card separately. You’ll save some money there.
